About
Amber Buddy

Amber Buddy is a family-owned company with a rich legacy in creating amber jewelry.

Our history with amber began in the 1950s. After World War II, our grandfather Izidorius discovered the art of making amber jewelry in our homeland of Lithuania. He hand-made amber necklaces, bracelets and pendants for women. His creations were so beautiful, everyone knew about them. At that time, Lithuania was occupied by Soviet Union. Izidorius could easily get amber from Russian mines in Kaliningrad.

Everything changed in 1991 when Lithuania became an independent country. The border with Russia closed and access to the mines where he could find amber became increasingly difficult. Izidorius only had enough raw amber to last a few years. He started saving as much as he could by producing smaller diameter beads for bracelets and necklaces. He wanted to save as much of the amber as possible so he could continue to make jewelry but he refused to sacrifice quality.

Eventually, his amber beads were reduced to 5-6 mm in size. This size is now the standard for kids' necklaces.

Once Izidorius ran out of his raw materials, he began taking his grandchildren to the shores of the Baltic Sea. That's where we learned to handpick amber material that would help our grandfather create the finest amber jewelry pieces. We would go early in the morning to help him continue his amber jewelry-making tradition, which turned out to be the beginnings of our legacy with amber.

Around 1996-98, the popularity of amber jewelry spread to Western Europe. Tourists came to Lithuania wanting to know where they could get amber necklaces for small children. That's when we began the production of our baby necklace line of jewelry.

Soon after, our necklaces were being exported to Western Europe countries, such as France and Germany. As the demand for amber jewelry grew, it became clear we should expand the work our grandfather began locally into a company that could compete globally. To meet the needs of our customers and share our amber jewelry with the world, we created Amber Buddy.

Today, our family buys small amounts of raw amber material from Poland and Ukraine, also collects it on the shores of the Baltic sea after the storms and then handcraft each bracelet and necklace. We prepare orders to ship around the world, including to countries like Australia, the U.S. and Canada.

Grandfather taught us the art of amber production and
jewelry making when we were children.

At Amber Buddy, we proudly follow in his footsteps and continue the work he began more than 50 years ago.Amber Buddy is not just a business to us. It's our family's heritage.
