Baby Sleep Myths

Sleeping is one of the most important needs for baby especially on their early weeks of life. Ensuring the comfort, knowing the right time and finding the guide regarding this thing are all the parents need to do. There are several myths about sleeping you probably have ever heard from your parents or grandma. Should you believe in those things? You better read the following guideline before answering this question:

Position

Sleeping position is still becoming controversy among some people. Some of them believe that putting the baby to sleep on his side is not dangerous, while others avoid this. However, we recommend you not to put your baby to sleep on his or her side due to the fact that such position could increase the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Instead, put them to sleep on their back.

Schedule

Because you want the best for your baby, so you start to think about the schedule for sleeping. You want to control how many hours the baby need to sleep and what time they should wake up. This is maybe good in your opinion, but you cannot treat newborn baby like this.

Babies have their own ‘alarm’ to sleep. They sleep when they are ready. They wake up when they are hungry, wet or feel uncomfortable for some reasons. When they are still very young, parents need to respond their needs.

Swaddling

Have you ever tried swaddling to comfort your fussy baby? You probably didn’t do that because many people said it’s an outdated method. In fact, what some people called as an outdated method could be the real help when you do it properly. Yes, swaddling could be the great effective soothing method. As long as you choose the right one, everything will be all right.

What you should pay attention to is about positioning.  This is the main important thing to consider. Instead of creating the technique you think is good, better ask your pediatrician or your friends and relatives who have experiences with this thing.
