Baby Teeth: The Order of Appearance

Your baby starts teething and it makes you happy as well as upset at the same time. Sure, this stage makes every mom so upset for some reasons. Drooling, loosing appetite, fussiness and some other symptoms are only few of examples. Apart from those symptoms, now let’s talk about the order of teeth appearance.

The appearance of primary teeth could be in any order and may not the same between one child and another. However, there is a general pattern we can take a note as a clue. The process will be generally started from the bottom. The first two teeth will emerge, and then followed by the teeth beside those two pearly whites. It continues until baby’s jaw is full of 20 teeth.

The other pattern which is also happened to many babies is like this: start with lower teeth (middle), continued with upper teeth (middle), followed by the area beside those two upper middle, the area beside two lower middle, etc. The last teeth would be second molar of upper teeth and second molar of lower teeth.

When does teething begin? Again, it cannot be generalized among babies. Some of them start teething when reach 4 months old, while others are still waiting their first teeth even when they reach one years old. On average, primary teeth start to erupt when baby is around six months old. Generally, it takes more less 30 months for all teeth to come through.
