Child Development Guide

Observing the development of our children could be one of the most fascinating things to do. Observation is a great way to understand the growth process better and greater insight into our own experiences at the same time.

Let’s start with the development during prenatal period. This is the earliest stage of development where moms commonly face various problems both physically and mentally. The exposure to drugs, toxins and any other dangerous things, for example, could bring serious effects toward childhood development later.

Child’s development is also influenced by the interaction between genes and environmental variables. Let’s take this as the example: a child will never achieve his full height when he does not receive proper nourishment during growing process even if his or her genes might dictate that he grows to be quite tall.

From psychological aspect, children development has strong relation to parenting styles. The way parents educate and treat their children will determine the child development outcomes. When you raise your children by authoritative parenting style, for instance, they will grow up to be happier and more capable persons in many aspects, while the children raised by permissive parents tend to have more problems later when grow up, especially in school and authority figures.

Another thing is about language development. Basically, it consists of four essential parts. The first one is called babbling stage, continued by single word stage. After that, the development stage will continue to two word stage and the last one will be multi-word stage.

In general, we can say that childhood development is a predictable thing. It follows predictable path and timetable, although in some parts there will the exceptions which make one child is different from another. Particular differences are normal and shouldn’t be considered as dangerous thing. For example, your child probably reaches his/her walking milestone earlier than his peers, but he/she reaches talking milestone little bit slower than other babies.

In conclusion, child development is not only about a single aspect. It is about many different things and parents are required to prepare themselves to help their children by gaining more knowledge. They also need to remember that the development of one child and others will never be exactly the same.
