Stay at Home Mom: Be Happy, Be Productive

Are you happy to be a stay at home mom? This is probably a question which comes to your mind or you have ever asked to your friends who choose to be with their kids instead of working at the office. Keep in mind that being a stay at home mom does not mean you cannot be productive, do a lot of things while witnessing every single second of your little kids’ funny moments and other things from time to time.

Being a full time mother is indeed an interesting and challenging at the same time. In this case, time management is the key. It’s true that you have a lot of time to do a lot of things, but without good time management, you will potentially waste your hours by doing something you actually can do in few minutes and continue to finish the “tasks” in your to-do list.

Sticking to a schedule is the first key. It’s not only helpful for you, but also your kids because you will need to arrange things to do the whole day both for you and your little one. Try to have the same time, such as play time, lunch, naps, waking up and even bed time. Stay consistent, because schedule changes are quite hard on children. Also, it will be good to have family menu planned out weekly.

At home, you probably love to spend some time by watching TV or sit in front of computer to browse the latest news and deals. That’s ok, but better not too much. Leave the TV and computer on all day long will only let your child to sit without doing any “real” activity (which is truly important to help their physical and mental development).

Instead, shut them off and start to play with your kids, do some crafts, read them good books or even go and play outside. Not only good for kids’ development, this is also the great method of bonding with your little ones.

And this is probably the most important thing: a stay at home mom needs “me time” too. Busy with housework and taking care of the babies are the major reasons why moms sometime forget to take care of themselves. It’s ok to spend 30 minutes or an hour a day to do something you like when your kids have gone to bed or early in the mornings. You can read your most favorite novel, listening to your favorite music, etc. Good luck, Moms!
